Organisation of time and date.

I have decided that I would like to take my images on Thursday 8th December 2016. Where I will have from 9.35am till 2pm to take my images. This will mean that I will be able to get a range of images that will overall allow me to get different ranges of shots and decide which is best.

My draft pictures for music magazine.

For my magazine I have decided to use a male character with a friendly yet more attitude look towards my target audience. To achieve this I have decided to do a close up image as my medium close up images give a better effect than than the other.

However, I would like to change his facial expression and make him look like he has more of an attitude look.

I think I would like him to wear some glasses as use them as a prop for placing of his hands as crossing his arms doesn't give the exact image I am looking for.

location for my music magazine

I am going to be taking my pictures in the school 'Dance and Drama' studio as I can affect the lighting as to how I want it. I can also have a range of props if I decide to change what I want my image to look like.

Image for my music magazine.

For my music magazine front cover I will focus on taking a medium close up shot of my actor. I want him to have a serious/ attitude expression and show that he is cool and part of 'the group' style; whilst keeping a stylish and modern look throughout his outfit and picture.

I have looked at different expressions for my magazine and I would like to create, this would give a natural friendly look. However, I also want my model to portray a more serious with attitude look. Therefore, I would like to do two completely different images for the pages.

Music magazine plan

The audience of my magazine will focus on an older generation of the ages of around 20-45, whilst focusing on more modern music or 'top of the charts' with celebrities like: Beyonce, JZ and Justin Bieber being my style model for my model and the positions I would like to portray. I will be focusing on a male audience as my magazine will be more male dominated however still suit the audience of women. Using a male model in order to show this.

Social status of my magazine.

My magazine is going to be focused on attracting an older age range. Therefore, my magazine will be focusing on college students and young professionals

Price Range for my music magazine.

The price range for my music magazine will be around £4.80 as Billboard magazine (my style model) is priced at £6.91. However, because my magazine will be suited towards a sightly lower age range I will keep the pricing as fairly low.

Genre for my music magazine.

I am going to be focusing on pop music and 'top of the charts'/ popular at the time music. This will bring a bigger audience towards who is listening to the music at the time and will also appeal to a larger audience as even though it is focused on pop it will have some features of other music genres.

Featured bands of my magazine.

As my music magazine focuses on R&B and POP music I have decided to include artist like: The Weeknd, Jason Derulo, Beyoncé, Chris Brown, Usher, Rihanna and more artists like them.

My artist will also be like them and have a very simple name 'Cameron Maines'

Age Range for my music magazine.

I will be creating a music magazine focusing on young adults going through to an older generation. I would like to focus on the age group 17-40 years of age as this is a general age group for a sophisticated yet stylised magazine.

The age range of my magazine will mean that the outfits and overall shots will be more intriguing and give a certain atmosphere that I am looking for (sophisticated with attitude)

Gender of my music magazine

I would like to focus on a male dominated magazine. However, I would also like it to appeal to female as this would be a more modern magazine and not be overly appealing to just one gender.

Music magazine style models

I have chosen to use Billboard as a style model for my double page spread, as this is the magazine that has inspired the rest of my magazine. As well as this, it shows key conventions of a double page spread

How I can improve.

I can improve my front cover and contents page by making my magazine look more professional and look more like a school magazine by getting a varied pictures in different locations. Therefore, I would be able to use a picture that focuses more on a school environment. I could also include different pictures in my contents page to make it more varied and show different aspects the school offers.

The image I have used do not directly show the background story of the school of a warm and welcoming school.

Overall, my final magazine is not focusing on a school magazine. Therefore, if I was to do this again I would change the image or background of the image.

Final Front Cover

My final front cover for my music magazine shows headlines that would be interesting for the parents of the students that attend the school; as well as students who would like to go to that school.

My Final Contents Page.

My final contents page uses the house style of red, black and yellow; which is the same as my front cover. Therefore, my contents page and front cover now look linked.

I also included my school logo and details about the school as this is important for the school magazine to display.

Lastly, I included a picture similar to my front cover to display the similarity.

Making my contents page.

I have created a template for my contents page on how I would like to lay it out and also how I would like the finishing contents page to look like. I have created this whilst using block coloured boxes to show where i would like to place my images and text.

I have used the house style of red, yellow and black to keep my magazine simple and to make it link to the front page.

Style model for my contents page.

I have chosen these style models as the contents pages are not cluttered with images and writing and clearly link to schools. Therefore, I would like to use some of the features in my magazine.

Finishing My front cover.

My finished front cover has consistent colours that display that my magazine links together. I will use these colours on my contents page as well. I also made this look more like a school  magazine as I added a school website and logo to make it more authentic.

On the other hand, my magazine is very plain; also you cannot easily tell that it is developed for a school magazine from a distance therefore I will need to develop this.

Adding a masthead

I added a lilac- pink background. I applied a plane background to give my focus onto my image and my text.
Next I applied my masthead  'Inside Haul's News' I applied this to the top of my page. This makes it very visible and attracts my target audience.I also applied a school logo; allowing my magazine to be more recognisable to previous readers and also allows me to use the free space so my magazine doesn't look to empty.

Adding the image.
Adding the text.

Whilst learning the different tools on photoshop i chose this image and added it to photoshop using 'Ctrl' and dragged the image down to resize it and recreate the image onto my background image, to make sure i know what tools I can use when creating my final image.

Applying my image.

Applying my image to my front cover.

I am going to move the image onto the blank cover.

I am going to resize the image and correct the placement. Then remove the rest of the background that wasn't removed by the 'Magic tool'.

Removing the background of my image.

In order to remove the background of my image I needed to click 'Layer' where I can remove the background without effecting the original image.

From layer I will click on 'New' and then 'Layer from background' to ensure the background removes without issues of changing the original image.

Im going to select the 'Magic wand' tool and remove most of the background.

Overall, I have removed the background.

Adding my image to photoshop

I am adding my image to photoshop where I will take out the background and add it to my magazine front cover.

First I have gone to 'File' in order to get my drop down menu.

Then from in the drop down menu I will select 'open' and find my image.

Once I have added my image I will select 'Window' and 'Float in all windows' in order to create a full view of both my magazine and my background image.

Making my magazine.

To start my magazine front cover I made sure that my front cover was the right size and was suitable for all the information I needed to put onto it.

Making sure that my 'Present' was set to 'International paper' in order to get the correct dimensions.

My blank magazine cover is now ready to be created into my final magazine.
